About Me
Hi I’m Mina, a yoga teacher specialising in pregnancy and postnatal yoga, founder of Womama Yoga and Mum to two gorgeous little humans.
I first discovered yoga in 2000 when I was training as a professional dancer at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds. As a dancer, waiting backstage before a performance, I needed to keep my body warm, strong and supple and my mind focused.
When I had to take a break due to injury, yoga continued to be a way for me to move and connect safely with my body. And a number of years later, it gently aided my recovery from a serious car accident.
After my dance career ended I began a new chapter working in marketing. It was a very different environment and while I enjoyed my role, I knew I needed to continue working with movement and creativity. Once again I was drawn back to yoga.
I started to immerse myself in local classes and discovered the benefits of hot yoga. The grounding it gave me was amazing, but when I then became pregnant for the first time, I had to stop.
Slowing down and finding a more gentle practice through pregnancy yoga was revolutionary for me.
Once I experienced the benefits of pregnancy yoga, not only for my physical and mental state through pregnancy, but also my baby's birth, I knew I had to share what I’d learned with as many mums-to-be as possible.
In 2018 I completed my specialist pregnancy and postnatal yoga teacher training with Sally Parkes Yoga. Soon after which, I became pregnant for the second time, welcoming our daughter into the world the following summer.
It wasn’t until the pandemic hit in 2020, and my youngest was almost a year old, that I had the opportunity to take my dream and make it a reality. I left my job to focus on attaining additional yoga qualifications and launched Womama Yoga soon after.
In times of need yoga has always been there for me and I really hope it can be there for you too.
Looking forward to seeing you on the mat soon.
Love, Mina
